Coming Through the Storm:
Inspired by True Events

This Dynamic story of Jessica is inspired by true events that will leave you speechless She lost her father at the age of 5, which was the start of an disastrous life for her. She experienced many life changing events including the loss of her grandmother, godmother, battling depression, raising 5 children, and going through a divorce. BUT somehow she still managed to make it through.

Excerpt from COMING THROUGH THE STORM

I believe a part of me left when he passed away. My mom had always said he died trying to defend his brother Rodney, who was trying to leave a restaurant without paying. The owner started hitting my uncle Rod with a bat and my father pulled out a knife to scare off the owner. The police arrived around the same time and the female officer yelled “Drop your weapon”, my father did not drop it so she shot him three times in the stomach. My father died at the hospital.

Interview with PEACEFUL ROSE

What inspired you to write this book?

Watching my daughter grow up and many other young ladies and women encounter some of the same situations I had been through and I thought why not share my experiences and mistakes to hopefully help someone else understand they are not alone in this and maybe help avoid or find comfort in knowing they too can overcome.

How long did it take to complete your book?

About 2yrs.

What has been your best experience since publishing your book?

Receiving the feedback and feeling like I was able to reach someone that could actually relate.

What is your favorite motivational phrase?

I like to tell people to “strive to be better than you were yesterday” and if I am having a bad day I tell myself “This too shall pass.”

What is your favorite movie and why?

I have two actually “Point of No Return” it's an old movie but I loved it because it took a woman who was down and out and made her over to become a strong beautiful woman who could kick A**. And my other is “Love and Basketball” because I love romance, and I am mushy like that “Double or nothing” (tear).

What do you do on your free time?

Mommy duties take up most of my free time but if I get away I may catch a movie or go to the comedy house for a good laugh or two.

Where there any doubt in releasing your book?

Yes I was scared about being judged for some of the decisions I had made. But I prayed about it and I had to let that go and say it’s not for me it’s for somebody else that is right at that breaking point and to help them see “This too shall pass”.

Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers?

I want to say “Thank You” to all that have been there for me when I was going through some of the most challenging moments in my life. To anyone that is or have read my book “Thank You” for supporting me in my journey to help bring change and togetherness to us all. Our differences make us unique, and our journey helps to tell our story to inspire, encourage, and motivate.
